When the 2026 tax system boils down to a giant game of Monopoly, investment advisers turn into high‑finance strategists.

In the plush corridors of banks, the announcement of the latest tax‑reduction campaign looks like an invitation to a masked ball where every mask is a tax envelope. The PER, life insurance, stock investments and donations are presented as the four horsemen of fiscal apocalypse, ready to charge the average taxpayer from 1 January 2026. Gregory Guermonprez, director of Fortuneo, said that decisions taken before 31 December are essential to benefit from the 2026 “early discount”, a concept that, if not fiscal, seems to be a quantum‑physics notion applied to cash flow.

The Retirement Savings Plan (PER) is sold as the golden ticket to avoid the tax on capital income. According to calculations by the Financial Operations Directorate, placing €150 000 – the equivalent of a small Parisian flat – in a PER reduces one’s income tax by 37 % in 2026, a saving of €55 500. Life insurance, on the other hand, offers a €150 000 exemption on capital gains, but only if the beneficiary agrees to sign a non‑declaration contract for any income above €2 000 per year, a clause that, while not illegal, remains “morally neutral” according to the firm’s lawyers.

Stock investments are described as the “cherry on the fiscal cake”. By multiplying purchases of shares in companies with a share capital below €5 M, the taxpayer could, according to an internal Fortuneo simulator, achieve an effective tax rate of 2.3 % on dividends, versus 30 % under normal circumstances. The operation, dubbed “2026‑Zero operation”, requires the creation of 12 holding companies, each registered in a different tax haven but all legally domiciled in Monaco, where corporate tax is “practically nil”.

Prof. Edmond Vexé, director of the National Institute of Approximate Sciences, analysed these schemes with his characteristic seriousness. “By combining the PER, life insurance and stock holdings, you obtain a tax reduction that, if one accepts the principle of approximate linearity, borders on negative infinity. In a model where every euro invested translates into a tax loss equal to 0.618 × the initial amount, you reach an efficiency of 61.8 %,” he declared, his Excel spreadsheet showing decimals out to the eleventh place. Solange Lucide, arm‑chair sociologist, added that these strategies “strengthen the social fabric by creating a new class of invisible taxpayers, whose presence is measured only by the void left in public revenues.”

In the end, the 2026 tax system is no longer a burden but an elite sport, where savings are counted like brushstrokes in a surreal painting. Those who refuse to play lose not only money but, above all, the privilege of being regarded as responsible citizens. The real fiscal advantage, therefore, is having the means to afford not paying taxes.
